He taught vocational agriculture for seven years in Wisconsin high schools in which he taught and supervised student’s FFA projects and managed cooperative education programs with senior placements in local businesses. He earned an M. ED in mathematics and computer science from Cardinal Stritch College in 1989. He taught math in middle schools and high schools for over 20 years in Denver, Colorado, Bonner Springs, Kansas, and Milwaukee.

In 2004 he founded, with the help of many volunteers, the non-profit Wisconsin Scholastic Chess Federation (WSCF.) He first served as President and now as executive director. The focus of WSCF is to teach chess to students via clubs and recreation departments as well as hosting scholastic tournaments and supplying services for local school hosted tournaments. WSCF serves about 80 clubs statewide and up to 1600 students annually via classes and offers close to 50 tournaments per year. WSCF tournaments are attended by anywhere from 40 to 300 students each, with up to fifty tournaments per year with a total over 3500 entries per year.

Growing up his family had substantial vegetable gardens and his passion for gardening has continued to this day. He has a passion for supplying programs that improve students’ lives in profound ways.

In the winter of 2021-2022 Bob completed course work to become a Certified Master Gardener.
